17/04/2002 Castle Merchants Cricket Club Fund Raising Evening.
The club is a partnership between HMP Lancaster Castle and tThe Merchants
Public House who have entered the Lancaster and Morecambe Midweek Cricket League. Funds raised on the night came to £136.
Thanks to everyone that attended who enjoyed a quick pool comp, a sponsored male chest and back waxing and raffle.

Lancaster Castle reached the final of the National Prison Service 7 A Side Rugby League
Trophy only to have it snatched away from their grasp at the last hurdle by a very strong Thorn Cross side.
Origin of the club Founded
on the 10th August 2000 as Lancaster Castle Cricket Club. The role of club changed on the 5th March 2002 to that of a sports
and social club, which represents all the sporting activities at HMP Lancaster Castle. Sports include football, rugby league,
badminton, pool, fell walking, rock climbing and last but definitely not least cricket. The purpose of Lancaster Castle
Sports and Social Club is to foster friendship and links through sporting and social activities between staff, staffs
families, other establishments, the outside community.
